As one who spent a quarter-century in that capacity -- and was abused, exploited, and ultimately "screwed" (for want of a kinder word) -- I am particularly sensitive to that issue.
Thank you for this article. IMO, I think most people can look back at their education and find at least one teacher that had an impact on them. For me it was my fourth grade teacher. She made learning exciting and fun. I could go into all the details, but it would be the length of a dissertation.
My 8th grade teacher, Evelyn Nanfeldt, who I disliked, took the time to have a short private conversation with me that arguably changed my life. That was 65 years ago and I will be forever grateful.
