I grew up fearing dogs. Imagine a little girl in a supermarket with her mother. I walked up and down the aisles, alone, for fun. A dog followed me. I ran and the dog did too-after me. That’s all I remember. I was so scared. And then a miracle! When I was 70 I adopted Petey, a 10 year old. He lived with me, he was loved by me and everyone who met him. He died 3 years after our love story began. My iPhone opening photo shows both of us on the day he died. Nothing replaces my love for him. As I read your essay Allan, I will now begin my search to find another rescue to live with and love.
Yes find another, I love them. Now I have my rescue Nikki

Loved this. Anonymous wrote it perfectly. Thank you for sharing it.
Abigail, yes, that is why I posted it. My wife had a passion for dogs all of our lives.
