Having dogs was a lifesaver for my family when chronic illness led to isolation. Dogs have been a source of love, compassion, and as you highlighted teach invaluable lessons for children and teens.

Thank you. I see the results with my daughter's, twins and now fifty and their homes are filled with pets and tropical fish

And when I walk her which is often friends and neighbors greet her first, pet her and then talk to me😀

This is such a great article, Allan, and, as you point out, pets are a great asset to any child’s development. It is also a great comfort to adults, and helped me tremendously to stay in shape, both mentally and physically. Oh, how I wish I could get another one! (my landlady, will raise my rent by $200 a month if I do— I am still considering it!) you are a wonderful writer.
