I would very gratefully and humbly like to share that I chose to go through a mediator when I suddenly chose to divorce the father of my 3 young children 14 years ago. My ex-husband was the product of a vicious and contentious divorce and using the mediator was his idea.

We left the office after 4 sessions with a 2-page financial agreement and a 50 page parenting agreement that we hammered out together. The mediator told us we should approach parenting as a successful business endeavor. I have zero regrets.

It is worth mentioning that a bad argument left us with a year-long no-contact order. We were young, but we worked through it and are great friends and co-parents today. Thank you so much for sharing this story.

Great read.

My first and only divorce did not involve children and was amically arranged free by a lawyer for whom we had campaigned.

I too was one of those kids. Fortunately, I was very fond of my dad, no matter what my mom said.
