What a fitting message, especially in these tumultuous times! Every day should be World Kindness Day. You said it so well: "The message is: 'Even if I don't know you or agree with everything you believe, I respect you as a fellow human being.'" In the U.S., there is a real lack of kindness -- people are pulled into nastiness by political affiliations and other differences. But the truth is, we are all people who deserve to be treated with respect and kindness.
I wish kindness could exist everywhere and for everyone. There's another element to kindness that is scary: kind people can fall victim to hostile individuals taking advantage of their kindness. The singer Jewel, in her song "Hands," sings "In the end, only kindness matters." I think she is onto something.

Beth, you gave me an idea about an essay about people disagreeing but with mutual respect. Thanks for the idea.
You are welcome, though I had no idea I was giving you that idea! :)
I am thinking kindness is my new focus, I was to a degree, but there are many more ways to incorporate it into my life.
For me too. By the way, I always appreciate your comments.
